SharedXpertise, publisher of HRO Today, and Alexander Mann Solutions, one of the world’s leading providers of talent acquisition and management services, have partnered to release the Human Resources New Technology Quarterly Summary: Q2 2018.
The purpose of publishing these quarterly reports is to track and analyze the most recent advances in technology and in funding initiatives aimed at supporting product innovation in HR. This information reveals critical insights into new technology, their applications and the companies offering them in the human capital management technology sector.
2018 increased its robust rate of advancing technologies in HR in Q2, with 57 major announcements noted in the second quarter. There were three areas of technology development with a particularly high level of activity: mobile capabilities, Artificial Intelligence (AI), and platforms that facilitate communication between employers and employees or candidates.
Four of the announcements cited referenced AI. While this was about one-half of what was announced during the first quarter of the year, it hardly points to a slowdown in the proliferation of the technology. Going forward, it won’t be a matter of if AI is being used, but in exactly what ways it is being used and how it has improved since the previous generation.
The report explores how providers are using mobile technology and and what it means for HR. Beth Miller, Vice President — Americas, at Alexander Mann Solutions, writes about the importance of this tech.
Mobile technology can be used in recruiting, employee engagement, and as a tool for HR to allow immediate access to critical metrics. But despite the proliferation of mobile devices, a majority of the time these areas are not optimized for mobile access. she explains.
"The fact remains that there can now be no doubt that the future of the hiring process — from engagement and application right through to assessment and on-boarding—is mobile," said Miller. "Those pioneering firms that make the first successful leap into innovation in this area will certainly be setting themselves up for success."
